WE FEEL OUR WORLD SQUEEZING US AND AS HUMAN BEINGS, ESPECIALLY WOMEN, WE ARE ON THE VERY EDGE OF A CLIFF. THAT'S WHERE THE BEAUTY BEGINS, WE ARE EITHER GOING TO FALL OFF OR FLY. OUR TINY STEPS, OUR UNIFYING ACTIONS WILL DECIDE WHAT'S NEXT.

CHILLIN LIKE A VILLAIN

CHILLIN LIKE A VILLAIN

There are many health issues that can be abated by taking great care of yourself. We all can agree that when you “put your oxygen mask on first,” everything in our lives feels better, flows better and has the opportunity for real joy. As unique and interesting people, we all don’t think the same, dress the same, or travel the same. So why should we define what is considered “me time,” the same way. This list of my favorite ways to chillax features many different options.

Ayurvedic Treatments:
I love the Ayurvedic philosophy of integrating the whole body and spirit, and this particular treatment always leaves me speechless (an almost impossible task). In America, there are a couple of places to experience this treatment in an authentic way. My personal favorite is Surya Spa (book a personal dosha consultation with Marta to go with your treatment). I also enjoyed my full Panchakarma at The Raj.

Abhyanga:
The Abhyanga is a friction-based choreographed massage utilizing warm dosha-specific herbalized oils. As the oil is massaged into the skin through gentle to medium pressured strokes, it penetrates deep into the tissues to loosen toxins at the cellular level. The Abhyanga enhances immunity, increases circulation, and creates deep relaxation in the body and mind.

Intuitive Flow Yoga w/ Danielle Karuna:
As an 800+ hour certified Jivamukti Yoga Teacher, a prenatal yoga teacher and the co-founder of Provita - a wellness company that delivers at-home and in-office personalized yoga & wellness sessions, Danielle Kaurna’s resume is impeccable. As a master sequencer, Danielle creates customized class sequences based on student’s needs and aims at making the body and mind a healthier and more inhabitable place for each individual. She incorporates pranayama, yogic philosophy, Chinese Medicine and meditation into each of her classes.

Reflexology:
A wide variety of businesses may offer foot massages, but until you have experienced a true reflexology massage on your hands, feet and ears, will you understand the connectivity of one’s body as a whole. When I am in NYC, I go to Fision. When in LA, I go to Reflexology.

Raindrop Massage:
Raindrop Therapy is the combination of Vita Flex and an essential oil massage. Vita Flex is a technique used to promote the body's natural ability to heal itself by stimulating the nerve pathways. During Raindrop Therapy, a sequence of high antimicrobial essential oils are dispensed like raindrops along your vertebrae followed by a relaxing massage. These therapeutic essential oils are designed to reduce inflammation and kill the viral agents responsible for it and continues to work in the body for 5-7 days following your visit. While bringing balance to the body, Raindrop Therapy can also help relieve pain, promote healing and restore health.

Bridge Walks:
'In order to have peace and joy, you must succeed in having peace within each of your steps. Your steps are the most important thing.' - Thich Nhat Hanh
Without fail, walking calms my spirit. It feeds my need to be alone, the mediative trance of movement and fuels a sense of exploration as I uncover new areas, art, stores, etc. When I am in NY, London, Paris, SF, etc; I always try to make my destination a bridge, as the water element of my walking meditation brings it to the highest level. One of my favorites will always be the Brooklyn Bridge.

AMDIO Method:
“I believe that all of the physical changes that we are in search of have a mental, emotional, and spiritual origin. In order to be the highest expression of ourselves, change must come from within. My approach to training equalizes the focus of the physical and the spiritual.” -Angela Manuel Davis

Cupping:
Whenever I feel the slightest tickle in my throat or weakness in my body, I get cupped. It truly is my answer to the western flu shot. The ancient art of cupping therapy occurs when a therapist puts special cups on your skin for a few minutes to create suction. The therapeutic act is multi-functional, as it helps with pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation and general well-being.
